MC’s Future – GPS Financial Coaching

Well, I’ve been threatening to announce my new business for a few weeks now.  The time has come.

But first, some background.  If you’ve been around MCPD for a while, you know I am a rather large fan of Dave Ramsey.  Two months ago, I was afforded the opportunity to attend his Counselor Training in Nashville, TN.  It was an experience for which I will forever be grateful.

If you’ve been around MCPD since at least December of 2011, you know that the Wife and I are Debt Free.  I won’t belabor the point here, but I encourage you to click that link and read a bit about our story.  In a nutshell, we paid off $77,232.88 in two days shy of 28 months following Dave’s plan.

Allow me to shatter some illusions for you.  It was Hard. Damn. Work.  I was gone a lot.  I worked a ton of overtime.  I worked the equivalent of an extra 2 1/2 months per year while we were getting out of debt.

It was worth every exhausting second.

So, how does that translate to a new business opportunity for me?

I think by now, you’re pretty well aware of the level of passion I have for my work as a SoulCrusher motor officer.  I love my job.  It’s fun.  They pay me to ride a motorcycle and write tickets.  Two of my very favorite things.

What would you say if I told you I am exponentially more passionate about helping people find a plan and direction for their finances than I have ever been about police work?  Fair to say it’s a bold statement?

I assure you it’s the truth.  I remember what it was like to make a great income but still feel like we were living paycheck to paycheck.  I remember coming home and sitting on the edge of my bed on the verge of tears because I had no idea how we were going to afford to pay the electric bill.  I remember the feeling of being adrift with no clear direction.  I remember being freaking buried in debt; all of our extra money going to someone else.

I also remember the first line of credit we paid off.  That little jab of traction.  It wasn’t much, but it got us motivated.  We moved down the line from a $600 line of credit to a $14,000 car loan and finally to a $20,000+ student loan.  All of it paid in full.  I remember the look on the Wife’s face when we screamed to five million Dave Ramsey fans that we were debt free.  I remember the tears of joy and the sense of freedom we experienced…and still experience.

We were so motivated by our personal experience that we started leading Dave’s Financial Peace University at our church.  All told, we have led a total of five classes and led dozens of families to paying off, cumulatively, over $550,000!

Over half a million bucks in debt has been crushed because families got sick and tired of being sick and tired.  They had enough of wandering from financial pitfall to financial pitfall.  They now have direction. They have a plan.

Enter my new business, GPS Financial Coaching and its mission statement:

Confidently navigating from where you are to where you want to be with purpose and intentionality.  Passionately inspiring HOPE with a plan for all from those in crisis to the financially secure.

GPSProfilePicThe GPS Financial Coaching website is up and running.  GPS has a Facebook page and I’m on Twitter as @GPSFinanceCoach. There is also a blog component to the website…shouldn’t be terribly shocking, right?

So, here’s the deal:

Leading up to my launch, I’ve been doing a lot of reading.  One of the books I’ve been perusing is Simon Sinek’s Start With Why.  I wrote a post on the GPS blog entitled “Whom Do You Trust?”  I would be honored if you took the time to read it because it embodies WHY I started GPS.

There is another favor I’d like to ask.  I would appreciate it if you’d follow @GPSFinanceCoach and ‘like’ the Facebook page.  You’ll also notice there is a subscription to the blog on the top right column of the website (not unlike this blog).  If you’ve enjoyed my musings here regarding police work, I promise you similar entertainment surrounding the area of finance on the GPS site.

You now have a myriad of ways to connect with me via this platform or GPS.  If you’re interested in what I can do for you and your personal finances, please don’t hesitate to reach out.  I am happy to offer you a free 30-minute consultation.  It will give us a chance to connect and get a quick snapshot about where you are and where you want to go.

As an additional offer, as readers of my blog, I am offering a $50 discount if you mention that you were referred to me via MCPD.

Yeah, I just referred you to myself.  Remember, I’m still a motor.  Our egos are freaking huge.  😉
